About Dr. Scott Heather

With more than 35 years in dentistry, Dr. Scott provides dental implants, crowns and full mouth rehabilitation at our Sandstone Point clinic near Bribie Island, with IV sedation available for nervous patients.

Dr. Scott graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Queensland in 1989. He spent the first 15 years of his career practising in Mount Isa before moving to the Sunshine Coast in 2004.

Early in his career, Dr. Scott saw how common dental anxiety is, and how often it keeps people from getting the care they need. Wanting to provide treatment that is as gentle and effective as possible, he completed a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Conscious Sedation and Pain Control) at the University of Sydney. His registration is endorsed for conscious sedation.

Today his interests include IV sedation, pain management, dental implants, orthodontics including Invisalign, and full mouth rehabilitation. He takes the time to explain each option clearly, so patients can make decisions they feel comfortable with.

More than 35 years of dental practice

Dr. Scott spent the first 15 years of his career in regional Mount Isa before moving to the Sunshine Coast in 2004. He now brings more than 35 years of dental experience, from everyday care to implants and full mouth rehabilitation, to our Sandstone Point clinic.

He has a postgraduate qualification in sedation and pain control, and his registration is endorsed for conscious sedation. That makes it an option for patients who feel very anxious or need longer treatment.

Beyond Dental Care Sandstone Point is a preferred provider with nib and HCF, and many more. This means eligible patients typically pay less out of pocket for covered treatments. We accept all private health funds and process your claim on the spot with HICAPS – so you pay the gap only, on the day, with no paperwork.

We also welcome DVA card holders, bulk-bill eligible children under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, and offer payment plans for larger treatments so cost doesn’t have to be the reason you put something off.

Ask at reception or mention it when you book — we’ll walk you through the options that apply to your situation.

We accept all health funds. Your coverage is welcome here, regardless of provider.

Using Your Superannuation for Dental Care

For patients facing significant dental treatment costs, there may be an option to access your superannuation through a compassionate grounds application. We work with SuperCare, a registered agent with the Tax Practitioners Board of Australia, who manages this process on your behalf. Our team can connect you with SuperCare directly so you can find out whether you’re eligible.

No credit check. No repayments. A one-time service fee applies (discussed directly with SuperCare). Approval typically takes 2–8 weeks, subject to ATO assessment.
