Tooth pulp is made up of nerves, connective tissue, and blood vessels, which create the surrounding hard tooth during development.Typically, the need for a root canal arises due to infection or physical damage, which may be caused by decay, old dental work requiring replacement, injury, cracking or gum disease.

How Does the Root Canal Therapy Treatment Work?
Before your procedure begins, your dentist will ensure that you understand the treatment to be carried out, and that you will have as comfortable experience as possible. This may involve administering local anaesthetic, nitrous oxide (happy gas) or a combination of both. Your dentist will then access and remove your tooth pulp. The space left when the pulp is removed is then filled, and the chewing surface is restored so that you can eat and drink as normal on your treated tooth.

These may include severe toothache, swelling, tenderness or pus from the gum or face, darkening of the tooth and hot and cold sensitivity.
