Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about dentures, repairs, and prosthodontic services.
Fit and Maintenance
What should I expect during my first denture consultation?
During your consultation, Mr. John will have a conversation with you to understand your concerns and treatment goals. He’ll examine your mouth, discuss any issues with your current dentures if you have them, and explain your options for improving fit, comfort, and aesthetics. He takes time to listen to your perspective before recommending treatment.
What can I do if my dentures feel loose or uncomfortable?
Loose or uncomfortable dentures are common but fixable. Mr. John will assess the fit and make adjustments to improve comfort. If necessary, he can provide a reline or recommend new dentures tailored to your needs. He pays close attention to the small details that affect how dentures feel and function.
How often should I have my dentures checked?
Regular check-ups every 6-12 months ensure your dentures stay in good condition. Mr. John can spot signs of wear, make adjustments, and recommend repairs or replacements as needed.
Can broken dentures be repaired?
Yes, most broken dentures can be repaired. Mr. John will assess the damage and, where possible, provide timely repair services to restore function and comfort.
How do I clean and maintain my dentures?
Mr. John will provide detailed aftercare instructions on cleaning and maintaining your dentures to prevent stains, odours, and damage. Regular care can extend their lifespan and keep them looking and feeling their best.
Advanced Options
What are implant-supported dentures?
Implant-supported dentures are a secure alternative to traditional dentures. They attach to implants placed in your jaw, offering increased stability and a more natural feel. This is one of Mr. John’s areas of expertise.
Are implant-supported dentures right for me?
During your consultation, Mr. John will evaluate your bone structure and overall health to determine if implant-supported dentures are a suitable option for you. He’ll explain what’s possible and help you understand the process step by step.
What’s the difference between full dentures and partial dentures?
Full dentures replace all teeth in your upper or lower arch, while partial dentures replace only a few missing teeth. Mr. John can help you decide which option best suits your situation.
How long do implant-supported dentures last?
Implant-supported dentures typically last 10–15 years with proper care, though the implants themselves can last a lifetime if maintained. Regular check-ups with Mr. John ensure they remain functional and comfortable, and any necessary adjustments can be made to extend their lifespan.
What is the process for getting implant-supported dentures?
The process involves consultation, implant placement by a dentist or oral surgeon, and denture fitting by Mr. John. He’ll guide you through each step and provide follow-up care to ensure optimal results.
Insurance & Payment
Are dentures covered by health insurance?
Medicare generally doesn’t cover dentures, but it may cover dental check-ups or other preliminary procedures for eligible patients. Private health insurance often provides rebates for dentures, and if you’re with one of our preferred providers, you may receive higher benefits. We’re happy to help you check your coverage and answer any questions during your consultation.
Can I use Super to pay for dentures?
Yes, eligible patients can use their Superannuation to cover denture costs through the Early Release of Super program. Mr. John’s team can help with the necessary paperwork.
How do I claim health fund rebates for dentures?
If your private health fund includes dental benefits for dentures, bring your health fund card to your appointment. We’ll process your claim instantly via HICAPS, so you only pay the gap between your rebate and the total cost. If dentures are not covered by your policy, we’ll help you explore other payment options, including payment plans or accessing your Super.
Do you offer payment plans for dentures?
Yes, we offer flexible payment options like ZIP Pay, Afterpay, TLC, and other payment plans. We’ll discuss all payment options during your consultation. We can also negotiate SuperCare on your behalf.
What is the cost of dentures?
A complete denture (upper or lower) starts from $1,720. Partial dentures begin at $900, with final costs depending on how many teeth need replacing. Mr. John will provide exact pricing during your free consultation.
